Abstract
Ciljevi istraživanja: ispitati učestalost prekomjerne tjelesne težine i pretilosti kod djece predškolske dobi te spolne i dobne razlike u tome kontekstu. Ustroj studije: provedeno je presječno istraživanje. Metode: u istraživanje je uključeno 293 djece u dobi od 3 godine do 7,5 godina iz Dječjega vrtića Vrtuljak u Zaprešiću. Antropometrijskim mjerenjem prikupljeni su podaci o visini i težini djece. Podaci su uneseni u programe Anthro i Anthro plus te su izračunati percentili s obzirom na indeks tjelesne mase (ITM). Prekomjerna tjelesna težina definirana je kao vrijednost ITM-a u rasponu od 85. do 95. percentila za dob i spol ispitanika po referentnim vrijednostima, a pretilost se definirala kao ITM veći od 95. percentila za dob i spol ispitanika po referentnim vrijednostima. Rezultati: učestalost prekomjerne tjelesne težine kod djece predškolske dobi je 9,9 %, a učestalost pretilosti je 8,2 %. Nema statistički značajne razlike u učestalosti prekomjerne tjelesne težine i pretilosti s obzirom na spol i dob djece. Zaključak: na temelju provedenoga istraživanja moguće je zaključiti da je učestalost prekomjerne tjelesne težine kod djece predškolske dobi na ispitanome uzorku 9,9 %, a učestalost pretilosti je 8,2 % te da nema statistički značajne razlike u učestalosti prekomjerne tjelesne težine i pretilosti s obzirom na spol i dob djece predškolske dobi.
Abstract (english)
Research objectives: To examine the prevalence of overweight and obesity in preschool children and its relation to age and gender differences. Study structure: Cross-sectional study was conducted. Methods: The study included 293 children aged 3 to 7.5 years attending the Kindergarten Vrtuljak in Zaprešić. Using anthropometric measurements, data regarding height and weight of the children were collected. These were entered into the Anthro and AnthroPlus softwares which calculated percentiles based on body mass index (BMI). Overweight was defined as BMI values ranging from the 85th to the 95th percentile based on normative values for age and sex of participants, and obesity was defined as a BMI greater than the 95th percentile based on normative values for age and sex of participants. Results: The incidence of overweight in preschool children is 9.9 % and the incidence of obesity is 8.2 %. There were no statistically significant age and gender differences regarding the incidence of the overweight and the obese. Conclusion: Based on the conducted research, it can be concluded that the incidence of overweight in preschool children in the examined sample is 9.9 %, and the incidence of obesity is 8.2 %, as well as the fact that there is no statistically significant difference in the incidence of overweight and obesity with respect to age and gender in preschool children.
