Objective: The main objective of this research is to show the most common injuries in football players and, by clustered analysis, link those injuries with position on field, recovery time, league, and age. Study design: Cross-sectional study Participants and methods: The research included 110 adult football players from Slavonia and Baranja who play football either for recreational purposes, semi-professionally or professionally. All participants agreed to be part of the anonymous online survey. A program used for statistical analysis was MedCalc Statistical Software version 19.1.7. The normality of the distribution of numerical variables was tested by Shapiro - Wilk test. Numerical data are described by median and interquartile range. Results: The ankle injury is the most common in football players, followed by hamstrings injury and wrist bone fractures. Ankle injury is found in all sports positions, while rotator cuff muscle injury is typical for goalkeepers. We did not find a difference in injuries between individual leagues. The correlation between injuries and the duration of recovery is found only in specific injuries such as wrist bone fractures, forearm and upper arm fractures as well as tennis elbow, lasting one month. We did not find correlation between age and injury, or between recovery time and age. We were unable to differentiate a specific physiotherapy procedure with individual injuries. Conclusion: The most common injury in football players is ankle injury, which is related to all playing positions. Due to the biomechanics and kinesiology, goalkeepers have problems with the rotator cuff muscles. The specificity of injuries determines the recovery time. Larger number of respondents within all Croatian leagues and a more detailed description of injuries are needed to make the results more credible.
