The aim of the research: To examine the self-assessment of mental health among outpatient emergency service workers in the year 2022, at the Institute for Emergency Medicine of the Osijek- Baranja County. Structure of the study: A cross-sectional survey was conducted, using a prospective data collection method, from January to March 2022. Respondents and methods: 102 respondents participated in the research, of which there were men and women. The respondents are persons who work in the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Osijek-Baranja County, in the workplace of a driver, medical technician/nurse or doctor. The research was conducted through a survey questionnaire. The "Short Mental Health Questionnaire" by Slišković A. was used, which was published in the "Collection of Psychological Scales" and according to the author is free to use. Results: 39 (38.2 %) respondents stated that they were not very nervous in the last month. 23 (22.5 %) respondents claim that they occasionally feel discouraged and sad. As many as 22 (21.6%) respondents feel happy only occasionally in the last month, and 4 (3.9%) respondents did not feel happy in the last month. The largest number of respondents stated that in the last month they did not feel so depressed that nothing could cheer them up. Conclusion: One fifth of the respondents is included in the risk group for impaired mental health. There is no difference in relation to the respondents regarding the professions they perform in the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of the Osijek Baranja County. Respondents who are younger and have less work experience have a higher risk of developing mental health problems.
