Objectives: To investigate the opinions and knowledge of nursing students about the prevention of cervical cancer and to determine whether there are differences in the students' responses of the first-, second- and third-year nursing studies. Study design: The study is cross-sectional research. Participants and methods: The research was conducted through a voluntary, anonymous online questionnaire. 146 students participated in the research. The first part of the questionnaire referred to general data, the second part contained six questions with one correct answer about cervical cancer. The last part consists of eight statements that the students evaluate on a fivepoint Likert scale. Results: In the survey of 146 students, 47 (32.2%) students were male, and 99 (67.8%) students were female. It was found that the year of study does not affect knowledge, but it does affect students' attitudes about cervical cancer. Students aged 18 to 25 have significantly more positive attitudes compared to students aged 26 to 35, and students in the third year of study have significantly more positive attitudes than students in the 1st and 2nd year. It was shown that there is no significant connection between the gender of the students and the questions about the students' knowledge about cervical cancer. Conclusion: The level of study does not affect knowledge, but it has an effect on attitudes about cervical cancer. The results are satisfactory, but they need to be improved. The conclusion of the research is the established need for further education and raising awareness of preventive methods in order to reduce the number of incidences, timely detect and therefore treat cervical cancer.
