Nomophobia, short for "no mobile phobia", is a term used to describe the fear or anxiety caused by not having a mobile phone. Psychological factors such as low self-esteem and extroverted personality are associated with excessive use of mobile phones leading to nomophobic symptoms. Young adults and adolescents are particularly prone to nomophobia, and frequent use of cell phones among students is associated with poorer academic performance and increased anxiety, which affects general life satisfaction. The aim of this research was to examine the prevalence of nomophobia among students of the first and second year of graduate nursing studies in Sveta Nedelja, to examine differences in nomophobia, and to examine the relationship between age and year of study with nomophobia. The research was conducted using a nomophobia questionnaire via a Google form. 100 respondents of the first and second year of undergraduate nursing studies participated in the research. The research was conducted over a period of one year. The results showed that nomophobia is moderately prevalent among students, and the symptoms are prevalent among respondents employed in secondary health care. Educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness of nomophobia and regulating smartphone use among nursing students from the early stages of their education may help mitigate the negative impacts of technology addiction on patient care outcomes. By promoting the responsible use of smartphones and providing support to manage the anxiety associated with smartphone use, health care facilities can better prepare future nurses to deal with the challenges that come with excessive dependence on mobile devices.
