Abstract
Cilj istraživanja: Kroz vremensko razdoblje od 7 godina (2017. – 2023.) analizirati kliničku sliku, obrasce i tip prehrane pacijenata s trisomijom 21. Nacrt studije: Presječno istraživanje. Ispitanici i metode: U istraživanje su uključeni podaci iz medicinske dokumentacije djece s Downovim sindromom obrađivane na Klinici za pedijatriju (KBC Osijek) u razdoblju od 2017. do 2023. Podaci su prikupljeni putem bolničkog informacijskog sustava KBC-a Osijek. Rezultati: Istraživanje je pokazalo da je prisutna starija dob majke – prosječna dob iznosila je 35 godina. Redovito kontroliranu trudnoću imalo je 91 % ispitanih, a u 31 % slučajeva bili su prisutni UZV pokazatelji aneuploidije. Hranjenje bočicom bilo je prisutno kod 49 % ispitanih, a 36 % hranjeno je kombinacijom bočice i sonde. Uočena je povezanost Down sindroma i pridruženih srčanih greški s poteškoćama hranjenja. Zaključak: Rezultati su važni za sestrinsku struku zbog važnosti uvođenja dodatnih edukacija u svrhu pravilnog pristupa prehrani djece s poteškoćama hranjenja i pridruženim komorbiditetima. Također, mogu poslužiti kao temelj za nova i proširena istraživanja.
Abstract (english)
Objective: The objective of this study was to analyse the clinical characteristics, dietary patterns, and types of nutrition in patients with trisomy 21 over a 7-year period from 2017 to 2023. Study design: Cross-sectional study. Participants and methods: The study included data from the medical records of children with Down syndrome treated at Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek, Department of Paediatrics between 2017 and 2023. The data were collected using the hospital’s information system at KBC Osijek. Results: The study indicated that the mothers were of an older age, with an average of 35 years. 91% of the respondents had regular pregnancy monitoring, and in 31% of cases, ultrasound (USG) indicators of aneuploidy were present. Bottle feeding was present in 46% of participants, while 36% were fed using a combination of bottle and nasogastric tube. A connection between feeding difficulties and Down syndrome, along with associated heart defects, has been observed. Conclusion: These results are significant for the nursing profession due to the importance of introducing additional education for the purpose of a proper approach to the nutrition of children with feeding difficulties and associated comorbidities. Also, they can serve as a basis for further research.
