Introduction: Aortic stenosis is the most common heart valve disease in the western hemisphere. Innovations in transcatheter technology and their application have resulted in the accelerated development of a large number of minimally invasive methods. Transcatheter implantation treatment as a potentially standard method changes the extent of work and action in interventional cardiology. Procedures: Articles available in scientific databases: PubMed, Google Scholar and Hrčak, and from other available scientific platforms were used to write this review thesis. Also used was the literature available in the libraries of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek and the City and University Library Osijek. Topic overview: When transcatheter aortic valve implantation is the chosen intervention, the patient will go through a series of diagnostic tests to collect relevant clinical data. Transcatheter aortic valve implantation is considered a valid method in patients with aortic stenosis, who for any reason have a significant surgical risk. Quality preparation of patients for transcatheter aortic valve implantation enables the fastest recovery of patients. Nurses who participate in the preparation of patients for the procedure will try to convince them that every procedure performed is aimed at improving their health condition, and that after a successful procedure their life will be better. Conclusion: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation is the gold standard for the treatment of patients with severe aortic stenosis who are at high risk for surgery or have contraindication for it. Criteria for the selection of candidates and the operational progress of the TAVI procedure technique are the main reasons of the success and outcome of treatment.
