Abstract
Cilj istraživanja: Ispitati povezanost duhovnosti i straha od smrti kod gerijatrijskih bolesnika otoka Visa. Nacrt studije: Presječna studija. Ispitanici i metode: U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 134 ispitanika (42 muškog spola i 92 ženskog spola). Dob ispitanika bila je u rasponu od 65 do 86 i više godina. U svrhu istraživanja korišten je anonimni upitnik formiran za potrebe anketiranja ispitanika. Rezultati: Viša razina duhovnosti uočena je kod starijih osoba u dobi od 65 do 75 godina za razliku od starijih ispitanika s 86 i više godina. Primijećen je manji strah od smrti kod osoba koje su u braku i osoba koje imaju nezavršenu ili samo završenu osnovnu školu. Pokazalo se u istraživanju da osobe koje prakticiraju dnevnu molitvu i češći odlazak u crkvu i crkvene obrede imaju značajno manji strah od smrti. Nije uočena povezanost razine duhovnosti s ukupnom skalom straha od smrti. Zaključak: Razina duhovnosti i straha od smrti nemaju značajnu povezanost sa spolom i dobi. Korelacija duhovnosti sa strahom od smrti očituje se samo u pojedinim segmentima, no u konačnici ne ukazuje na značajnu bliskost. Kako bi se uočila i bolje shvatila povezanost duhovnosti i smrti, potrebne su detaljnije analize i istraživanja.
Abstract (english)
Goal of the study: to examine a relation between spirituality and the fear of death with geriatric patients on the island of Vis. Draft of the study: cross-sectional study Participants and methodology: 134 participants took part in this study (out of which 42 were male and 92 were female). The age of the participants was between 65 and 86 years (and more). An anonymous questionaire formed for the need of surveying participants was used in the study. Results: the higher level of spirituality is noticed with the old participants aged 65 to 75 when compared with the older participants aged 86 and more. Less fearful were participants who are married and those who either haven't completed their education or have completed only elementary education. Conclusion: the level of spirituality and the fear of death have no significant relation with gender and age. Correlation of spirituality with the fear of death is evident only in some segments but in the end it doesn't point to the significant connection. More detailed analyses and studies are necessary in order to better detect and understand connection between spirituality and death.
