Abstract
Cilj istraživanja: Ispitati pojavnost temporomandibularnih poremećaja (TMP) i stresa kod studenata dentalne medicine i zdravstva te istražiti njihovu povezanost. Nacrt studije: Presječno istraživanje Ispitanici i metode: U istraživanju su sudjelovali studenti dentalne medicine, fizioterapije i sestrinstva na Fakultetu za dentalnu medicine i zdravstvo Osijek. Anketni upitnik sastojao se od općih sociodemografskih pitanja, upitnika za procjenu težine TMP-a i upitnika za procjenu razine percipiranog stresa. Studenti su anonimno i dobrovoljno pristupali rješavanju online anketnog upitnika putem Microsoft Forms platforme. Rezultati: Istraživanje je provedeno na 134 studenata dentalne medicine i zdravstva, od kojih je 64 % bilo ženskog , a 36 % muškog spola. Kod polovine ispitanika zabilježena je simptomatologija temporomandibularnih poremećaja. Najčešći prijavljeni simptom bila je nervoza/napetost, a najrjeđi ograničene kretnje donje čeljusti. Rezultati percipiranog stresa ukazuju na pojavnost niskog, umjerenog i visokog stresa redom u postotnim odnosima 21 %, 72% i 7%. Nije zabilježena značajna povezanost (P=0.05583), ali je zbilježena pozitivna korelacija niskog stupnja (cor = 0.0342) između stresa i temporomandibularnih poremećaja. Zaključak: Nastanak TMP nije poveziv s pojedinačnim uzročnim čimbenikom. Stres je pozitivno kolerirao s težinom temporomandibularnih poremećaja. Nužna su daljnja istraživanja kako bi se razjasnila multifaktorijalna etiologija temporomandibularnih poremećaja u studentskim i općim populacijama.
Abstract (english)
Objectives: To examine the prevalence of temporomandibular disorders and stress among the students of dental medicine and healthcare and determine their interdependence. Study Design: Cross-sectional study Participants and Methods: The study involved dental medicine, physiotherapy and nursing students from the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health in Osijek. The survey questionnaire consisted of general sociodemographic questions, a questionnaire to assess the severity of TMD and a questionnaire to assess the level of perceived stress. Students participated anonymously and voluntarily filling out an online survey on Microsoft Forms platform. Results: The study was conducted on 134 dental medicine and healthcare students, of whom 64 % were female and 36 % were male. Temporomandibular disorders were recorded in half of the respondents. The most commonly reported symptom was nervousness/tension, and the rarest is limited movement mobility of lower jaw. The results of perceived stress indicated presence of low, moderate and high stress in 21 %, 72 % and 7 % of participants, respectively. No significant association (P=0.05583), but a low-grade positive correlation (cor = 0.0342) was noted between temporomandibular joint disorders and stress. Conclusion: The occurrence of TMP is not associated with a single causative factor. Stress positively correlated with the severity of temporomandibular disorders. Further research is needed to elucidate the multifactorial etiology of temporomandibular joint disorders in student and general populations.
