INTRODUCTION: Neurological diseases are associated with high mortality and disability rate. Rehabilitation of neurological diseases refers to the restoration of motor and cognitive function of the patient in which the development of new technology can help us achieve better results. Virtual reality provides an interactive virtual environment, affects neuroplasticity and helps in the patient's recovery during rehabilitation. PROCEDURES: The databases searched were Pubmed and Hrčak. When writing the paper, 90 papers were reviewed and 50 of them were taken into consideration. Most of the literature was studied in English. OVERVIEW: Virtual reality is the basic way people can connect visually with a computer and a they can manipulate and communicate with it,too. It is an advanced form of a humancomputer interaction that allows users to engage in a computer-generated virtual environment. Studies show the benefits of its application in diseases such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and stroke. Most neurological diseases lead to impairment of motor function. The application of virtual reality in rehabilitation has certain advantages over conventional therapy because it facilitates the implementation of the principles of motor learning, provides all kinds of real-time feedback, and gives us vision in objective progress that is easily measurable. CONCLUSION: Neurological diseases greatly reduce the quality of life. The application of virtual reality, in addition to all positive effects on the development of the motor function also affects the motivation of the patient, which is very important during the rehabilitation. Regarding the research, we cannot determine with certainty all the positive effects of virtual reality, but it can definitely serve as an auxiliary tool to conventional rehabilitation.
