Objectives: The goals of this cross-sectional study are to investigate the sociodemographic and socioeconomic characteristics of all employees in dental tourism, their opinions on the impact of the current pandemic on their daily work, the characteristics of their work with clients of polyclinics dealing with dental tourism during the current pandemic, and to assess whether there is a connection between the observed variables. Study Design: Cross-sectional research Participants and methods: 302 respondents employed in dental tourism in the Republic of Croatia participated in the cross-sectional survey. The research was conducted using an anonymous survey questionnaire consisting of 32 open and close ended questions in the period from June to August 2022. Filling out the questionnaire took up to fifteen minutes. Results: The conducted research showed that the COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the workload of employees in dental tourism, which resulted in numerous layoffs and reductions in employee wages. The interviewees mentioned wearing protective equipment, fear and canceling appointments as the biggest changes in their work, and they would contribute to the development of dental tourism with better marketing and a lower price than in neighboring competing countries. The majority of respondents believe that Istria and Kvarner benefit the most from dental tourism, and that the continental part of Croatia and Dalmatia could improve dental tourism in the future. Conclusion: The smaller number of foreign patients, who were unable to attend dental treatments due to the COVID-19 pandemic, led to numerous layoffs and reduced wages for those employed in dental tourism.
