Objective: To examine the frequency of sepsis in patients after the URS and/or FURS procedure, in other words, to determine whether there is a statistically significant difference in relation to age, gender and duration of the procedure. Study design: A retrospective cross-sectional study. Subjects and methods: The research includes the data gathered from the health information system (HIS) regarding patients who underwent surgery to remove ureteral or kidney stones in the period from July 1, 2020, to December 31, 2021. The data were collected and processed in Microsoft Excel, after which they were transferred and analyzed using the specialized statistics program IBM SPSS. The results with a p-value less than 0.05 were considered to be statistically significant results. Results: By comparing the obtained results, it is clear that the frequency of occurrence of urinary stones in women is not in trend with the world research that states that stones are more frequent in men in a ratio of 3:1. The obtained results show that in our study the occurrence of stones in women is five times higher than in men, while the duration of the procedure has significant indicators for sepsis if the procedure takes longer than 90 minutes. Conclusion: The frequency of sepsis in patients after the URS and/or FURS procedure has a statistically significant difference in relation to the length of the operation and the gender of the patient, while age and type of procedure do not have statistically significant indicators for the incidence of sepsis. The difference in the occurrence of sepsis is five times higher in female patients in comparison to male patients. The longer the procedure, as well as if a female patient undergoes that procedure, the greater the chance of sepsis.
