Objectives: The purpose of this survey research was to test the stress levels of healthcare workers caused by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) through the following domains: the transmission of infection, socioeconomic consequences of the pandemic, health risks, checking for the information about the disease, and traumatic stress, as well as to explore the factors included in relation to stress. Participitians and Methods: The respondents were healthcare workers in Nova Gradiška General Hospital, and the research was conducted in February 2021. The standardized questionnaire COVID-19 Stress Scale (CSS) by Taylor and associates was used as the measuring instrument. Results: Healthcare workers show mild stress levels caused by coronavirus disease pandemic, of median 34,5 (interquartile range 19 – 50,75). The highest stress levels were expressed within the domain of anxiety, median 9 (interquartile range 6 – 14), and the lowest in the domain of socioeconomic consequences of the pandemic, median 0 (interquartile range 0 – 6). The levels of stress differ when taking into consideration professional qualification of the respondents (P = 0,04) and years of service (P = <0,001). There are are no differences among the division of the respondents according to stress levels in consideration to workplace establishment (P = 0,19), gender (P = 0,75), age (P = 0,06) and the age groups of the population they work with (P = 0,60). Conclusion: Healthcare workers of Nova Gradiška General Hospital show mild stress levels caused by the coronavirus disease pandemic. The highest stress levels are shown within the domain of anxiety, and the lowest in the domain of socioeconomic consequences of the pandemic.
