Objectives: The aim of the research is to gain better insight, understanding of feelings and behaviour and screening for emotional difficulties with reference to the specific characterological characteristics of the respondents. Study design: The research was conducted as a cross – sectional study using verified questionnaires. Participants and methods: The study involved 40 people with Parkinson's disease divided into two groups – newly diagnosed patients and patients treated for more than 3 years. The following questionnaires were used: Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale, Questionnaire to Assess the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Psychological Functioning, and IPIP-50 Personality Assessment Questionnaire. Results: Respondents generally disagree with claims that their quality of life is worse than before or that their disease worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic. Respondents in the age group of 51 to 60 have elevated results of general psychological anxiety compared to other age groups. Male subjects were more emotionally stable than females, who scored higher on the "comfort" subscale. Respondents in the early stages of the disease are significantly more conscientious. Subjects aged 61 to 65 had significantly lower scores on the extraversion and comfort subscale. Conclusions: The COVID-19 pandemic did not significantly affect the quality of life and worsening of the subjects' symptoms. There is a general psychological anxiety in the subjects in the group 51-60 years of age, and the group from 61 to 65 years stands out with lower results of extraversion and comfort compared to other subjects. Research of the personalities of patients with Parkinson’s disease can be useful in recognizing impulsivity, and early detection of depression and anxiety can have a beneficial effect on care optimization.
