THE RESEARCH AIM: To determine the parents' opinion on the vaccination of children in relation to age, gender, education, recovery and vaccination of parents against COVID-19. STUDY DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: The study involved parents of children hospitalized at the Pediatric Clinic of Clinical Hospital Centre (KBC) Osijek in the period from January 1, 2022. to March 31, 2022. The research was conducted using the questionnaire Attitudes and concerns of parents regarding vaccination of children against COVID-19, which is available for free usage and has been translated from English into Croatian. RESULTS: The study involved 108 respondents, i.e. parents of children hospitalized at the Clinic for Pediatrics of the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek, out of whom 15 (14%) were men and 93 (86%) women. Seventy respondents (74%) have been familiarized with the COVID-19 vaccination raising awareness campaign. Out of the total number of respondents, 16 (15%) are undecided about vaccinating their own children, 38 (35%) do not plan to vaccinate their child against COVID-19, but could consider it in the future, while 32 (30%) respondents never plan to vaccinate their child against COVID-19 disease. Also, 65 (61%) respondents believe that the COVID-19 vaccine should not be mandatory for children. CONCLUSION: The results of the survey on the attitudes of parents of children hospitalized at the Clinic for Pediatrics of the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek showed that one-third of them do not intend to vaccinate their children against COVID-19, while one-third are thinking about it in the future. However, more than a half of the respondents believe that the COVID-19 vaccine should not be part of the regular Children's Vaccination Program.
