Aim of research: To research the level of intensity of symptoms in depression and anxiety in people suffering from multiple sclerosis. To question whether there is a difference in the appearance of depression and anxiety symptoms in regard to gender, age and marital status of the respondents. Organization of study: cross-sectional study Respondents and methods: 59 respondents who suffer from MS were included in the research. A sociodemographic survey was carried out in the research, which included 9 questions, as well as the Beck depression survey II and the Beck anxiety survey. Results: The obtained results show that 83% of the respondents suffering from MS are female. Symptoms of depression are recognized in 42% of the respondents. The largest number of respondents fall into the category of mild depression symptoms (21%). 14% of the respondents fall into the category of severe depression symptoms. With regard to gender, the largest number of male respondents fall into the category of severe depression symptoms (40%). Regarding anxiety, the largest number of respondents fall into the category of severe anxiety symptoms, or 48% of the respondents. 60% of the male respondents fall into the category of severe anxiety symptoms, likewise the largest number of female respondents fall into this same category (45%). Conclusion: A significantly larger percentage of women suffer from multiple sclerosis. The appearance of depression and anxiety symptoms in patients suffering from MS is high, and a significantly higher number of male respondents fall into the categories of severe depression symptoms and severe anxiety symptoms. There is no considerable difference in the appearance of depression symptoms according to marital status of the respondent, while the appearance of anxiety symptoms is higher with respondents who are married or live with their partner.
