Anxiety of croatian veterans in osijek-baranja county Objective:The aim of this study was to examine the correlation between anxiety and sociodemographic characteristics of Croatian veterans. Study design: cross-sectional study Participants and methods:The research was conducte d at the Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek in the Office of the Coordinator of Croatian Veterans during a physical exam in January and February 2020. After a physical exam, the respondents f illed out a n anonymous questionnaire about their health condition. T he GAD 7 scale was used to assess the level of anxiety. Results: There were 302 respondents included in the research, 96.4% of whom were men and 3.6% women. There were 27.2% of responden t s who assess ed their health condition as poor, 14.4% of respondents s uffer from anxiety or depression, while 11.6% felt the need for additional psychiatric examination. According to the GAD 7 scale, as many as 28.1% report serious anxiety, which is very w o r rying. The respondents who rated their health condition as poor or s atisfactory had severe anxiety, in comparison to respondents who rated their health condition as good. Conclusion: There were 28.1% of respondents with severe anxiety, with no significan t distributio n regarding the age. The place of residence, number of ch ildren and material status do not significantly affect the incidence of anxiety. But marital status, health status, and employment affect the growth of anxiety in veterans. Anxiety needs t o be identi fied and treated in timely manner to prevent the side eff ects of untreated anxiety.
