OBJECTIVE: Through this paper, our goal was to show the care of patients with pertrochanteric fracture in KB Dubrava before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The management of pertrochanteric fractures is shown with respect to the sex and age of the patients. RESPONDENTS AND METHODS: The research was conducted in the period from January 1, 2019. to 31.12.2021. Data were extracted from the BIS system and based on the patient's medical history of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics of the Dubrava Clinical Hospital. 350 subjects participated in the study, 277 of them had pertrochanteric hip fracture. Microsoft Excel 2013 was used for data processing, and the data are presented via graphs. Primarily, data on the incidence of fractures are presented, after which data are analyzed in more depth with regard to the age and sex of patients, and the length of hospitalization. RESULTS: 277 subjects had a pertrochanteric fracture. Of the 277 patients, most were female. According to the age of the patients, 143 of them were between the ages of 80 and 89, followed by a good group of 70 to 79 years in which there were 67 patients with pertrochanteric fracture. According to the length of hospitalization, most patients stayed in the hospital for 5 to 10 days. There were 165 patients in this group. We can see from the above data that these fractures occur in a much older population due to the higher frequency of falls and bones affected by osteoporosis. CONCLUSION: According to all the above data, pertrochanteric fractures participated in the elderly population. Pertrochanteric fractures mostly occur in females. Given the age of the patients, this type of fracture mostly affects patients between the ages of 80 and 89, while the average length of hospital stay is 8 days. More such research is certainly needed to more clearly establish the incidence of the fractures themselves with respect to the age and sex of the patients.
