Objectives: To show nursing procedures in the care of a child suffering from an acute intestinal infection during admission to the hospital, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care based on established needs in the field of health care. Case study: The case report describes a child at the age of one year and nine months who was admitted to the Department of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Pulmonology, Allergology, and Immunology accompanied by her mother and who was suffering from an intestinal rotavirus infection. During the nursing process, she was diagnosed with seven nursing diagnoses of which the most important were the following: dehydration related to increased body temperature, diarrhea and vomiting, as evidenced by pale skin, reduced skin turgor, and loss of electrolytes. After identifying the problems, nursing interventions designed to reduce or eliminate them were planned and implemented and the patient was discharged from the hospital after improved condition at the mother's request. Conclusion: The treatment of acute intestinal infections requires special attention from nurses because those infections cannot be easily eliminated with certain drugs. A professional approach by nurses is needed both in working with the child and with his parents/guardians. At the same time, nurses observe the child's condition, communicate with doctors, carry out symptomatic treatment, and monitor their success. While providing nursing care, nurses should be professional so that parents observing and listening to them are also properly educated, all for the purpose of curing and stopping the spread of such diseases.
