Objectives: To examine the quality of life of patients following a locomotor system surgery and rehabilitation in relation to age, sex, diagnosis and associated comorbidities. Study Design: The research was conducted as a cross-sectional study. Participants and Methods: The subjects were patients who underwent a locomotor system surgery and completed a 21-day rehabilitation at the Bizovac Thermal Spa inpatient treatment facility. An anonymous questionnaire with demographic data and a Croatian sample of the SF-36 quality of life self-assessment questionnaire were used. Results: 96 respondents participated in the research, 65% of them were female, 46% had hip surgery and 45% had no comorbidities. The median age of the respondents was 63 years. The results showed that there is a significant difference in physical functioning, social functioning and perception of general health depending on gender of the respondents. Respondents aged 50 and younger made a significantly worse assessment of their limitations due to physical difficulties. Male respondents assessed a higher quality of life after surgery and rehabilitation compared to females, through better physical functioning, assessments of greater vitality and energy, better psychological health and a better perception of general health. Conclusion: The best assessment by the respondents was expressed in the area of psychological health, and the worst concerned limitations due to physical difficulties. Poorer quality of life was reported by female respondents, younger respondents and respondents without comorbidities. The various diagnoses of subjects and the surgical procedures performed do not have a significant impact on the quality of life following a locomotor system operation and completed rehabilitation.
