The aim of the research: To examine the effectiveness of radial shock wave therapy in the diagnosis of heel spurs with regard to the gender and age of the subjects. Subjects and methods: The research study was conducted on 157 patients of the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, Virovitica-Podravina County Health Center. Data were collected from the records on shock wave therapy as well as personal data (age and sex, diagnosis), data on pain level on the VAS scale and data on subjective condition six weeks after the first treatment. Results: By analyzing the collected data, 51 (32,48%) out of 157 were male and 106 (67,53%) were female, aged 39 to 88 years, average age 60,26 years. There is a statistically significant difference in the average on the VAS pain scale before and during each treatment, with an increase in pain during the treatment. There was an average pain reduction of 28,2% in the total number of subjects (N = 157). The maximum pain intensity was highest during the first treatment in women, and in men during the second treatment, then it gradually decreased. There is no statistically significant difference on the subjective condition scale six weeks after the first treatment regarding the gender and age of the patients. Conclusion: During the treatment of heel spurs with radial shock wave therapy, it was determined that there was an increase in pain on the VAS scale during the treatment, with a tendency for the pain to gradually decrease over six weeks (of treatment). Women reported higher average pain scores than men. There was a better effect of the therapy among men. The largest number of respondents evaluated the subjective condition after six weeks as good with a rating of three out of five and as satisfactory with a rating of two.
