Objectives: The research objective is to research nursing students’ knowledge and attitudes toward electroconvulsive therapy. The specific objectives are to examine whether there is a difference in knowledge and attitude toward electroconvulsive therapy in relation to work experience and age, and to investigate whether there is a difference in attitude in relation to nursing students’ knowledge of electroconvulsive therapy. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Participants and Methods: 108 nursing students from the Republic of Croatia participated in the study. Participation was anonymous and voluntary, using an online questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic data, knowledge assessment part, and a part assessing the respondents’ attitudes toward electroconvulsive therapy. Results: When assessing knowledge, the median number of correct responses is 7, ranging from no correct response to all 12 correct responses, leading to the conclusion that there is no significant difference in knowledge related to gender, age, work experience, and work related to the level of health protection. Considering the attitude of the respondents, the analysis of the results shows that the majority of the respondents have a neutral attitude towards electroconvulsive therapy, although the attitude of the respondents who have never seen the ECT procedure is significantly more negative, and there is no significant difference in the respondents who have heard about ECT through the public media. Conclusion: There is no significant difference in knowledge and attitude regarding age and work experience, although respondents who have witnessed the use of ECT express more positive attitudes, and respondents who are employed in institutions with psychiatric patients have more knowledge about ECT and its use.
