Objectives: The aim of the research is to examine puerperas about knowledge and attitudes on breastfeeding, to examine puerperas about the positive sides and advantages of breastfeeding and to examine whether there is a difference in knowledge and attitudes about breastfeeding among puerperas who fed their children formula milk and those mothers who breastfed. Study design: Cross-sectional research. Respondents and methods: 103 respondents participated in the research, who were enrolled in the Županja Health Center and who filled out the survey questionnaire individually through the official electronic address. The questionnaire was completed in the period from 1 January 2022 until 1 June 2022. The questionnaire consisted of sociodemographic questions and questions about breastfeeding in order to examine the knowledge and attitudes of puerperas. The questionnaire contained 33 questions. Results: The 103 respondents who answered the questionnaire were processed. The respondents believe that mother's milk has numerous advantages for the child's health and they support women who breastfeed their children in public. Puerperas who breastfed have more positive attitudes and better knowledge than puerperas who fed their children with an adapted diet. Conclusion: Breastfeeding is a very frequently discussed topic. Puerperas have different opinions, knowledge and attitudes towards breastfeeding depending on their own experience and knowledge. Research has shown that mothers who breastfed their children have better knowledge and more positive attitudes towards it than mothers who did not breastfeed their children. In order for knowledge and attitudes to change it is necessary to educate puerperas and the entire family about breastfeeding starting in the first hours of the child's birth.
