Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between the shape of the maxillary central incisors and the form of the face, as well as their correlation in relation to age, gender, and academic year. Study Design: A cross-sectional study was used. Materials and Methods: The research was conducted in Osijek in 2024 during the months of June and July. A total of 53 photographs of dental medicine students from the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th academic years were analysed. Photographs were taken using a mobile device with specific portrait and lighting settings. The photo analysis followed Williams' classification of face and incisor forms. The statistical data analysis was performed using MsExcel (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Inc.). The statistical analysis included the Kruskal-Wallis test, Fisher's test, and hi-square test. Results: The results indicate a clear connection between the shape of the maxillary central incisors and the shape of the face, with a specific face form being associated with the same incisor form. The square-shaped incisors were the most prevalent among the participants, and the square face form was also the most common. The rarest incisor form was oval and the rarest face shape was triangular. In terms of gender, statistical significance was found only in females, while in males, the results were insignificant since most of the men had square incisors and square faces. Conclusion: The study confirmed a correlation between incisor shape and face shape based on Williams' classification within the examined sample. However, these results may vary across different populations, suggesting that dominant face and incisor shapes, as well as their correlation, may differ in other groups.
