INTRODUCTION: Lumbar pain syndrome is a public health problem and a financial global burden that severely reduces individual’s quality of life. Vertebral and vertebrogenic lumbar spine syndromes limit the performance of daily activities and increase person’s disability and dependence on others. PROCEDURES: A systematic review of publications examining detected needs for health information associated with lumbar pain syndrome identified through Medline, PubMed, Hrčak and books published in the past five years. TOPIC VIEW: Lumbar pain syndrome occurs in all age groups and is more common in women than men. The pain usually stops spontaneously, but 45 percent of people will have a second episode of pain within a year. Physiotherapists take the patient's medical history and perform a physical examination to make a diagnosis.The most frequently used clinical tests to examine lumbar back pain are the Thomas test and the McKenzie postural test. The link between mental disorders and the occurrence of lower back pain has been confirmed. People who are dissatisfied with the current business situation are more likely to have pain, and in such circumstances, depression and anxiety occur, which are closely related to lumbar pain syndrome. CONCLUSION: Prevention of lower back pain is achieved through the application of active life and pilates exercise is often used as the alternative exercise that has the greatest impact on the musculoskeletal structure of pain. Treatment is encouraged nonpharmacologically with an emphasis on the application of the McKenzie concept of exercise, breathing exercises, manual spine therapies and acupuncture.
